"The Golden Hour" is an exciting thriller series that revolves around the crucial first hour after a large-scale terrorist attack. During this hour, panic, fear, and the threat of a second attack converge. It is a time that brings out both the best and the worst in people. The six-episode series features a star-studded cast, including Nasrdin Dchar, Ellen Parren, Matteo van der Grijn, Abbas Fasaei, Melody Klaver, and Sophie Veldhuizen. The protagonist, Nasrdin Dchar, plays the role of Mardik, a passionate detective of Afghan origin who becomes distrusted by an AIVD employee after she uncovers something from his past. One night, Mardik receives a disturbing text message revealing that his childhood friend Faysal has arrived in the Netherlands. When a terrorist attack occurs the next day, Mardik suspects Faysal and begins investigating, leading to drastic consequences.
The six-part series aired on NPO 3 in the fall of 2022, thanks to AVROTROS, and its international recognition with the Rockie Award demonstrates the increasing prominence of Dutch drama series on the world stage.
