Today in Spain the shootings for Costa!! start. Twenty years after the huge success of Costa!, director Jon Karthaus is making a new summer feel-good film that takes place around the nightclub Costa in Lloret de Mar. Katja Schuurman once again makes her appearance as Frida and leads a cast of new generation film stars. Lead roles are for Abbey Hoes, Stephanie van Eer and Soy Kroon. Besides them also Oscar Aerts, Ella-June Henrard, Sinan Eroglu, Lisa Zweerman, Roeland Fernhout and Tina de Bruin make their appearance.
Costa!! will not be a sequel to the popular 2001 film Costa!, but a completely new story that does take place on the Spanish coast again. Fans of the film will note that the history and names as they are cited are exactly correct. The only character who really returns from Costa! is Katja Schuurman in the role of Frida whose daughter Anna (played by Abbey Hoes) is the main character of this film.

Spanish beaches, sun, sea, parties, love and friendship... all of these ingredients make Costa!! The ultimate summer feel-good movie. Anna travels with her best friend Bibi to Lloret de Mar to see the famous club Costa, where her mother Frida used to work as a promoter. Once in Spain, the club unfortunately turns out not to be the place to be anymore, but a run-down karaoke bar. Together with her new friends, Anna does everything she can to win the Battle of the Bars and make Costa the hottest club on the strip again. Will Anna find true love under the Spanish sun, just like her mother once did?

The script of Costa was written by Diederik Jekel and Jon Karthaus who also directed the film. The production is by NL Film and Dutch FilmWorks will bring the film to the cinemas in spring 2022. The film is made possible by Netherlands Film Production Incentive and the Abraham Tuschinski Fund with additional support from the 'Steunmaatregel Productie'.
