Najib Amhali makes his directorial debut with the EO-Telefilm 'Triq Salama'.

Op January 18, EO will air the directorial debut of Najib Amhali: "Triq Salama." In this comedic road movie, filled with both laughter and tears, 23-year-old Nadia travels with her family to Morocco for her cousin's wedding. Nadia has been keeping a secret for a while—she wants to marry her boyfriend, Nofel. But how can she tell her parents? And how will her distant mother react?

The NL Film-Telefilm "Triq Salama," or 'journey in peace,' is based on Nora Akachar's story. Najib Amhali shares about his directorial debut: "I was given the incredible opportunity to direct a movie, and it was an overwhelming experience. There was so much coming at me, but fortunately, I had the pleasure of working with a fantastic team and actors that all of the Netherlands should see. I am incredibly grateful for the chance that NL Film and EO have given me."

Gathering Courage
Nadia struggles to tell her mother, Rachida, that she wants to marry her boyfriend. So Nadia suggests that, like in the old days, they travel to Morocco together in their van. The long journey seems like the ideal way for Nadia to strengthen her bond with her mother. Hopefully, it will give her the courage to introduce her beloved, Nofel. But not everything goes as planned on the way to Morocco. Various internal frustrations and family problems surface. How intense will emotions get in this overheated van? And will Nadia manage to get closer to her mother?

Journey to Adulthood
"As a child, you often seek approval from your parents, and as you grow up, that remains ingrained. It's quite challenging to let go of those expectations and make independent choices. This movie revolves around that journey to adulthood, and along the way, there's plenty to laugh and smile about. Despite all the mutual irritation, frustration, and inability, you sense deep love within this family," says EO editor-in-chief, Arnoud Bruinier.
