In Rundfunk: Duco and Roy, the talentless Duco and Roy are followed in the pursuit of their ultimate dream: becoming famous. It's not a sequel to Rundfunk, but a brand-new story with fresh characters and a handful of Dutch celebrities, such as Georgina Verbaan, Paul de Leeuw, and Eva Jinek, playing themselves. Rundfunk: Duco and Roy will be broadcast on KRO-NCRV on NPO 3 starting from Sunday, December 3rd.
After a TV series, a movie, and two sold-out theater tours, Tom van Kalmthout and Yannick van der Velde present Rundfunk: Duco and Roy. It's a comedic, absurdist parody of the acting world and the film and entertainment industry. The show also touches on societal themes with humor and satire, including landlords, workplace safety, boundary-crossing behavior, consent, and influencing.
In Rundfunk: Duco and Roy, the talentless actors Duco and Roy have only one goal: to break through and achieve eternal fame. Their shady landlord has once again raised the rent, the amateur acting association where they perform brings neither money nor fame, and casting directors and drama schools don't take them seriously. It's high time to work even harder to make a name for themselves. Despite lacking talent in all aspects, they don't lack determination. The clumsy and unpredictable choices they make on their journey to success lead them into the most insane and hilarious situations.
Tom van Kalmthout and Yannick van der Velde play the roles of the main characters Duco and Roy. They describe Duco and Roy as wannabe actors whose only strength is perseverance. Despite all setbacks and rejections, they try to make it in "the industry." They express their excitement about the series, admitting that deep down, they are a bit like Duco and Roy. In Rundfunk: Duco & Roy, other actors such as Georgina Verbaan, Jim Bakkum, Paul de Leeuw, Ruben van der Meer, and Eva Jinek also appear, playing themselves. The series is directed by Peter van de Witte in co-direction with Tom van Kalmthout and Yannick van der Velde. NL Film produces the series in collaboration with KRO-NCRV.
